What's New
We are honoured to have the work of local artist Jill Winstanley beautifying the practice as we move into summer! Take a peek in each treatment room to see Jill’s work and ask Jade in reception for more details.
Jill Winstanley is a self-taught artist and lives in the Sooke area (near Victoria) with her husband, Simon, and their array of furry and feathered friends. Born and raised on Vancouver Island has definitely inspired her creativity and kept her in awe of all the little wonders nature gives us. Jill has always loved to draw and paint, and decided to become a full-time artist in 2003.
Running out of things to paint is never a problem for Jill… she steps outside her door and inspiration is everywhere. It is always the way the light catches objects that grab her attention first. Jill paints things that makes her heart smile and hold her breathless. It may be a tiny spider holding fast her small territory or a winter storm churning up aqua waves and sea foam on the beach. She paints the beautiful things that we tend to overlook in the daily hustle and bustle of life.
Jill has found her passion with oils on canvas and feels she can create more depth and subtle tones with this medium, along with enjoying the longer working time. Often times, she will work from her photographs because of life's time restrictions, and also wants to capture that special light in a specific moment in time. Being able to capture the small details that make the moment unique are important to Jill. Her only hope is that other people enjoy her paintings as much as she enjoys creating them.
